Capstone Presentation

As you can see in my picture, I had my tri-fold with some facts and statistics about prescription drug abuse. I also had my laptop with my website on, so I would be ready to show the judges as well as my essay folder (dark blue just like most other people) and my three medicine journals as my end product. The last element of my table were three empty medicine bottles to attract people to my table even though no one came to my table but it's okay because I'm still fabulous.

My overall experience was good except for the fact that I completely forgot to show my website to my judges, but other than that it went well. My presentation went really well, I just wish I could have not gotten both judges at the same time, so I could have had a chance to practice more. The hardest part was waiting for the judges because I was nervous and by them taking a while to get to me, it made me even more nervous. On the other hand, the most fun thing was walking around looking at everyone's tables and looking at how far we had had come since last May. At first I thought capstone was a complete waste of time, but now I see that the whole process was extremely helpful and actually kind of fun. I wish I could go back and stop dreading everything that had to do with capstone and just enjoy the ride.

Capstone Presentation Day

I will have my infographic poster on a tri-fold along with other information over my issue, my website and PSA on my laptop. I will also have a table cloth in order to make my table look nice as well as my end product which are three medicine journals. Since my capstone has to do with prescription drugs, I will have empty medicine bottles to enhance my table further.

Infographic Poster

How your Infographic Poster relates to your Capstone Project.
  • My Infographic poster relates to my capstone project because it demonstrates the issue with prescription drug abuse and how it is caused.
Did you have to do more research to complete your poster?

  • I did have to do more research for my poster.
What was the easiest and hardest thing about creating the infographic?

  • The hardest thing about creating my infographic was trying to figure out the spacing and whether or not all my information would fit.
Did you create your infographic in the Winter Term or this semester? If in Winter Term, what additions or changes did you make?

  • I created my infographic in winter term and I added new sources.
Is your poster done or do you still have some tweaking to finish?

  • I still need to tweak some things.

PSA for Capstone Project

1. How did you address your Statement of Intent in your PSA?
I addressed my statement of intent by giving suggestions in order to avoid prescription drug abuse. Although, prescription drug abuse is not completely avoidable, there are precautions that people can take to not get involved in prescription drug abuse.

2. Did you meet the other Requirements?
I did meet all the requirements, but my video was a couple seconds over the max time (55 seconds).

3. What would you do differently?
If I had to do my PSA differently, I would definitely double check to make sure my slides correspond to the amount of text on the screen, so that people have enough time to read the text, but not too much because that just takes up valuable time.

4. What was the easiest and hardest part about producing your video?
The easiest part of producing my PSA was creating the text; however, the hardest part was fading my audio in and out at the beginning and end of my video.

PSA Intent

What are the key points you will emphasis?
  • Staying away from prescription drugs whenever possible
  • Only taking the amount of prescription medication prescribed by your doctor
  • Throw away any unused medication
What visuals and audio are appropriate?
  • prescription bottles
  • prescription medication
What type of PSA you will use?
  • Serious
Outline of proposed structure
I am still trying to figure that out.

PSA Videos

I enjoyed how this article listed a step by step way on how to create an effective PSA. I learn that music and animations can be effective, but also tricky to use in a PSA. If i am not careful in deciding whther ot not to use music and animations, then my PSA will not be effective towards my audience. This article was extremely informative and I will definitely use it as a resource while creating my PSA.

  •  Teenagers that are not interested in doing drugs become involved with prescription drug abuse due to an unavoidable events.

    • Doing drugs can take your life. Don't do drugs because even if you want to stop it'll be extremely difficult.

    Capstone Project Statement of Intent

The goal of my project is raise awareness about prescription drug abuse. It is urgent that children and teenagers become aware of the amount of fatalities each year linked to prescription drug overdose. By raising awareness about the prescription drug epidemic, I will be contributing to my intended career field by helping reduce the number of deaths due to prescription drugs. My project will encourage younger generations to steer clear of abuse due to prescription drugs and offer their talents to our society.
